Location Guide

LOCATION GUIDE

One of the things I hear most often from couples is, “we don’t know where to shoot - we trust the expert!” I’ve shot all over Knoxville… I mean ALL OVER. Every nook and cranny. And even beyond Knoxville if you’re looking for a little adventure. Below are a list of some of my favorite places to shoot and the link to a full gallery at each location so you can get a real feel for what they look like.

*A NOTE: Locations DO vary in appearance by season and weather. They’re all beautiful in different ways. If you want to see a specific location in a different season, feel free to ask - I’ve shot most everywhere in each season, so I should have more examples for you.

DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE

Downtown Knoxville is so cute and if you’re a Knoxville dweller, may hold plenty of memories for you and your loved ones.

IJAMS NATURE CENTER

Ijams is my personal favorite nature access within the Knoxville city limits - it’s lush and has TONS of variety: forest, fields, the quarry, and river access.

MEAD’S QUARRY

This is technically part of Ijams, but is big enough to explore for an entire shoot. It’s very beautiful - also a great place to do “in the water” shots if you’re feeling adventurous.

KNOXVILLE BOTANICAL GARDENS

The KBG is a great place to get a nature feel in a more manicured way. They’ve got some gorgeous, unique features like the ivy room and lots of stone walls.

SEQUOYAH HILLS PARK

Sequoyah Hills is has some unique foliage and manicured sections. Great if you want variety without a ton of walking.

THE HIVE

I’m one of The Hive’s preferred photographers, so I have access to this chic bohemian space for free! It’s very customizable, so put on your creative caps and let’s have fun!

CANDORO MARBLE

A STUNNING indoor option if you’re worried about the rain or cold. This does cost an extra $25/hour to rent, but look at those photos… I think it’s worth it.

IN YOUR HOME

Shooting in your own home can add such a layer of meaning to your photos - it’s where you spend your life.

BEYOND KNOXVILLE

**NOTE: Locations that require an hour or more of travel for me include a $75 travel fee. This helps cover my mileage, gas, and the time I spend driving.

Lilly Bluff Overlook

LILLY BLUFF OVERLOOK

My favorite hidden gem! There’s water access, beautiful forests that are lush year round, amazing moss, and of course, the overlook. Travel: 1 - 1.5 hours from Knoxville.

You might not think of Oak Ridge as an oasis of pretty spots, but I live out here and I know it’s beautiful places so well! Travel: 30 minutes from Knoxville.

Seven Islands State Birding Park

SEVEN ISLANDS

This place is a well-kept secret, but is SO beautiful. All the variety you could want in one space: fields, hills, water access, trees. Travel: 30 minutes from downtown Knoxville.

NORRIS DAM STATE PARK

Norris Dam is perfect if you love water, along trees, fields, and with some pretty wildflowers in the summer. Travel: 30 minutes from Knoxville.

CADES COVE

There’s nothing like a romp through the GSMNP. Travel: 1.5 hours from Knoxville (also I STRONGLY recommend shooting on a weekday to avoid traffic insanity).
